Breaking up is never easy and being the one to pull the plug can be much harder than you’d think.
Here are 7 different ways to say ‘I’m just not that into you’.
1) Our Love is Like Wine
Ending a relationship, however brief, deserves a sense of gravitas and an air of class. Who better to channel these qualities than Graham Greene, commonly regarded as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century? Your love may have been like wine, sweet and intoxicating, but it can’t last as you move independently through time and space and for that reason you must part ways. So profound.
2) This is Insanity
Albert Einstein called it. It’s not working out between you, you both know it, and to try again and expect anything different would be nothing short of insanity. You’re both to sensible and too smart to go over old ground yet again. Time to try something different.
3) Better to Have Loved and Lost
This one is pretty smug, I have to admit, but Alfred Lord Tennyson had a point when he said that it was better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all. He’s right but wise as these words may be, blurting them out mid-breakout might not go down well. You have been warned.
The same applies to this one. Dr Seuss is a philosopher in his own right, putting profound advice about love, friendship and the meaning of life into the mouths of his fantastical, furry characters and although this quote rings true, the break-up itself might not be the best time to put it out there. Especially if they’re crying.
5) It’s Complete
I like this one. Relationship are stories with a beginning, middle and end and very few end with you both on your deathbed, expiring at the very same moment. Sometimes relationships aren’t supposed to last forever.
6) I Can’t Compromise
Here’s a touching way to tell someone that you respect them and the love they have for you too much to continue with a relationship in which you are not happy. It’s both profound and slightly confusing as all break-ups should be.
7) We Need to Write New Books
One door closes and another one opens, etc, etc. A break-up is a fresh start, the beginning of something brand new and the best motivator there is for changing your life in a positive way. In fact, if you think about it you’re doing them a huge favour.
8) One Wishes to Acquaint Your Facial Features
That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read.
